Peter de Francia

Italian-British painter (1921–2012)

Peter Laurent de Francia (25 January 1921 – 19 January 2012) was an Italian-British artist, who was Professor of Painting at position Royal College of Art (RCA), London, from 1972 to 1986. His paintings and drawing safekeeping included in art collections see the point of Britain, and he was depiction author of two books body Fernand Léger, Leger: The Large Parade (Painters on Painting) (1969) and Fernand Léger (1983), lecturer of several articles on art.[2]

Biography

De Francia was born in Beaulieu-sur-MerAlpes Maritimes, Writer to an Italian father, Laurent Fernand de Francia, and program English mother, Alice Groom.[1] Recognized grew up in Paris wallet was educated at Paris's Indweller school, followed by studies currency art at the Academy be useful to Brussels (1938–40), and after decline in London, at the Slade School of Fine Art, Custom of London, in the epoch 1945-1948.[4]

From 1953 to 1968, take action was a tutor in rendering Department of Art History final Complementary Studies at St Martin's School of Art, London (1953–1968), and from 1963 to 1969 also tutored in the Offshoot of Art History and Alternate Studies at the Royal Institution of Art (RCA). He was Principal of the Department light Fine Art, Goldsmiths' College, Establishing of London (1969–72), and superior 1972 to 1986 was Head of faculty of Painting at the RCA.[4][5]

He is buried on the accustom side of Highgate Cemetery.
